Painting gives Terri the opportunity to slow down, experience the joy of seeing the beauty and peace of nature and to express that joy through her paintings. Terri lives at Banksia Beach, Bribie Island which has many tranquil, inspirational beautiful places-beaches, lush bushland and wildlife. She also travels extensively and finds many places in the world inspirational for her paintings. Terri uses a variety of mediums-mainly oils and acrylics and likes the Impressionist style because it allows the viewer to use their imagination and own life experiences to connect with the painting. She admires works by such famous painters as John Singer Sargent, Margaret Olley, Ethel Carrick-Fox, Margaret Preston as well as French and Russian Impressionists. Terri’s main theme in her paintings is to share the beauty of where she lives and the places she visits with the viewer. She believes that by the viewer looking at beautiful art it helps them to focus on the beautiful and good in the world and contributes to a peaceful living environment. Terri supports the view of artist Juliette Aristides :-“Light is the true subject of the artist’s work.”
